How do you properly dispose of an old or broken TV?

The circuit boards found in TVs usually go to specialized recyclers who mine the gold, platinum and other precious metals. The panel of the tv is often coated with phosphorus which must be removed and destroyed, as it is considered hazardous waste. The other materials like glass are reduced and often end up being used to make new TVs.

We will take any flat screen tv for free within a 15 mile radius of League City Texas. and CRT (Fat Back) Deep style monitor or TVs we charge for due to the hazardous material of mercury located throughout them.
Projection style televisions we charge for due to the size of these and the components within. Most waste companies will not pickup televisions and companies like Best Buy will not take any tvs over 55 inches.
